Macie's Biggest Fear....

Macie has always been a pretty fearless kid- she's never been afraid of water (no matter how cold!), animals, bugs, the dark- she actually likes all of the scary Halloween displays at the stores, too. So to my complete surprise she woke up a few mornings ago at 4:30am crying in fear and when I went to get her she was pointing to the smoke detector, absolutely terrified! She wouldn't calm down so she ended up sleeping in our bed the rest of the night. Since then, she's been afraid of it. I've tried to tell her that smoke detectors are "nice" which seems to help. I also showed her the one in our room and told her that mommy has one too! But now she's discovered that there are smoke detectors throughout the entire house and everytime she sees one she points to it and says "scared" and I say "it's not scary, it's nice" so she'll say "nice," although, I'm not sure she's completely convinced! It's sad to see her afraid, but I have to say it's kind of funny that of all things a little smoke detector is her biggest fear! I had to take a video of it because I don't think anyone believes me- it's below this post!

Macie's Throne!

Macie has been kind of interested in going potty lately so we bought her a little potty of her own- it plays music when she goes potty in it. She tells us when she has to go potty, but it's usually as she's going in her diaper so we don't have time to get her to the toilet. She's only actually gone in the toilet a couple of times. She loves to sit on it, though, and she says "potty" the whole time over and over. I'm kind of hoping she'll be trained by age 2- she'll be 18 months next week, so that gives us about 6 months to work on it. I'm not going to force it, though....you can't force Macie to do anything...she's pretty much in charge!

Vegas!

This weekend I went to Las Vegas with my boss Josh, and Katie & Megan, the two assistants at our office. Friday we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner at Caesar's Palace then to the MGM to see Circue du Soleil KA which was awesome! After, we rode the roller coaster at the New York, New York...it was scary but very fun! On Saturday Josh & I had a laser course all day (the reason for the trip!). Later that night we went to dinner at Top of the World restuarant at the Stratosphere...it was amazing! The view was incredible and you move around in a circle (slowly!) while you eat. It's probably the nicest restaurant I've ever been to and the food was excellent! We walked up to the observation deck after and looked around for awhile, then Katie & Megan rode the rides on top while Josh & I went down the casino and I gave him a lesson in Craps. Later we went back to our hotel (the Luxor) and I went to LAX club with the girls- that was quite an experience! It was fun but I'm glad I'm not in the single scene anymore....we were up until almost 5am and I'm still recovering! Anyway, we left Sunday morning (very tired!). It was such a fun trip- I work with the best people, no wonder I love my job so much! I was glad to get home to Tony & Macie, too- I missed them! Thanks Josh for such a fun weekend- you're the best!

Bentley's Blessing

 

Our friends Cody & Wendy blessed their cute little baby Bentley on Sunday. It was such a nice day to be outside and with friends. Wendy & I have been friends since we were in preschool. We spent most of our childhood playing dolls together, so it's fun that we're able to be moms together now with real babies!

I made cupcakes last weekend and Macie decided to "help" me by trying out the batter! I'd say the look on her face says she approved!

Ouch!

So last week Macie was playing between the couch & the sliding glass door- it's one of her favorite spots because she likes to hide in the curtains and look out the window at Bear. Anyway, she always puts toys there and she put a few too many this time and tripped over them and hit her head right on the edge where the doors meet......and this is what it looked like within seconds! It literally made me queasy...the bump was huge.....I thought it was going to burst! Poor thing! I immediately gave her Tylenol- I also tried putting a cold pack on it to take the swelling down but wasn't very successful as this picture shows! Anyway, after she was happy again I had to take a picture for her scrapbook....the joys of having a toddler!
