Special Announcement

 

 

After a lot of consideration we decided we wanted one more baby to complete our family.  We are due April 12, 2013 and are really excited.  I love my spring babies!  I went to the doctor last week and we couldn't hear a heartbeat (which is normal at this stage) because supposedly my uteris is really far towards my back (which doesn't explain why I feel like I'm already showing!)...so I was really worried for a minute.  But then my midwife got the ultrasound machine and almost immediately we saw our little bean of a baby on the screen with a healthy fluttering heartbeat.  There is nothing more of a relief than to see that! 

Our kids are way excited and even though we are going to make it a surprise and not find out the sex, we all feel like it's a girl.  But who knows!  Guess we'll find out when he or she comes! 

Anyway, we announced to our families and close friends right away since we're not good secret keepers, and eventually the word was spread so I think most people know by now, but it's official once it's on the blog!  :)

So far I have been moody, exhausted, and slightly nauseated, but not too bad.  And it's getting much better as I get closer to the 2nd trimester.  I have an AWESOME midwife who I am excited to deliver with as well.  I have had a different provider for each kid and so far she is my favorite!  We're excited for this new adventure!

Kindergarten

Macie started KINDERGARTEN last week!  The week before school started her principal came around to all of the kindergarteners' houses and introduced himself and gave them a cute Kneaders apple shaped sugar cookie.  It was so impressive...and he is so awesome.  We also had orientation and got to meet Macie's teacher Mrs. W and do some testing. 

On her first day Macie insisted on wearing her blue striped shirt and bright pink pants.  The shirt is her absolute favorite because her American Girl doll McKenna has one just like it.

My mom watched Pax that morning and Tony and I took her to school.  They had asked that the parents bring them and stay the first 30 minutes.  Macie's friend Bailey is in her class so I'm glad she has a buddy.  Mrs. W talked to the parents for a little bit while the kids colored.  I would have been just fine saying my goodbyes at the door because I know Macie loves school and is excited to be there, but I'm pretty sure the teachers are determined to make the parents sad!

Mrs. W read everyone a cute story about a little racoon that had to leave his mommy to go to school but it made him really sad because he missed her so she kissed him on his hand so that anytime he got sad he could place his hand on his cheek and remember his mommy.  Then the mommy got sad that her baby was gone so he did the same for her and kissed her hand so she could remember him.  I was pretty strong through the story but when the teacher even gets choked up it's hard to not get the same way...not to mention the tears all over the room.  THEN they had the moms go to our kids and trace their little hands and place a sticker on it to represent our kiss and write them a little note.  Then we had to kiss their hands and give them a hug and say goodbye.  Maybe it's my hormones or something, but I literally lost it!  Macie didn't really notice that I was crying and was just fine saying goodbye!

Maybe it's the fact that my baby is geting so big and it's a flash of what's to come, but it was pretty sad for me.

Anyway, Macie LOVED her first day of school as well as everyday after that.  She gets a day at the gym, a library day, and a computer day.  And she has already mets lots of new friends.  I am so excited that she loves school and I hope she always has that attitude!

The Kissing Hand

Lost Tooth

My baby girl lost her first tooth!  Both bottom front teeth have been loose for awhile now but I didn't encourage her to wiggle it too much...something about losing your front tooth makes you kind of old!  :(

Anyway, she noticed it had gotten really loose so she went to dad to help get it out and of course he did.  It bled a little but apparently it didn't hurt because she was super brave and even more excited to show me!  I went out of town for the night but luckily the tooth fairy came to visit.  She left a tiny little note in a tiny envelope and TWO whole dollars!  Lucky girl!  After only one week the new tooth started popping through so it was obviously ready!

Summer Fun

We have had such a fun summer and we are sad to see it end.  Although, it's been pretty hot so I am secretly looking forward to fall and SLIGHTLY cooler weather (I know I'm going to regret saying that when it drops to 60 degrees and I'm freezing!)

Anyway, I thought I'd post some random summer pics.

 

 

Snowbird

My dad had his annual employee family dinner and fun night at Snowbird.  We had a nice dinner then got to do the alpine slide, zipline, bounce houses, and other fun stuff.  Macie did the bunjee jump tramp thing and also a high obstacle course with Tony.  It was a fun night!

 

 

Bees Game

We took the kids to a Bees game and realized that our kids don't like sitting and watching baseball.  They were bored from the start...but I kind of get bored watching baseball, too, so I can't blame them!  We stayed about 4 innings...oh well, it was something to do!

 

Boating

Tony's brother has a small boat that is perfect for boating around and tubing.  We love boating so we were happy to go anytime!  The kids love it as well...who wouldn't love a nice warm day on the lake?!  I decided we need to buy a boat...maybe I'll win the lottery one day!

 

City Creek

We love City Creek and have been several times.  My aunt works at the Zions building so we have met her for lunch a few times.  Last week when we went she let my kids play in the splash pad and they ended up SOAKED!  It was hard to be too mad since they had so much fun...and luckily I had pjs in the car for the ride home!

 

GO UTES!!!

Tony and I have season tickets to the Ute football games this year.  We have so much fun at the games and I love the location of our seats.  We took Pax to the first game and he did pretty good but I think we'll leave him home from now on so we can enjoy it more.

Binks are gone by age 3 so I still have some time...but he sure likes them!  He only gets them for naps & nighttime (except this picture where he went and got them out of his crib & wanted to show me how funny he is!)  This kid makes me laugh!

Camping

Let me just start by saying that Tony and I are not really campers.  We enjoy a day in the mountains as much as anyone, but we're more hotel people when it comes to sleeping away from home!  However, our kids have been begging us to go camping for awhile now.  I decided that we had better become campers so we don't raise non-camping kids!  So we took our first, overnight in a tent, camping trip.  Casey & Tracey came with us since they are pro-campers, and thank goodness because there was a lot we didn't even think to pack!

Tony picked out our sweet orange tent from Target...it just so happens to be a 1-minute set-up and take-down tent.  It was easy, but it took a few more minutes than just 1.  We put our Euro-Queen air mattress in it for us and a twin air mattress in for Pax...Macie slept with the girls in Casey & Tracey's tent.  The kids were so excited just to have our own tent...I'm pretty sure I could just set that thing up in our backyard and it would keep them happy all day! (Might have to try that actually!)

Anyway, we stayed at one of the camper-world properties that Tony's parents are members of which had a swimming pool where we swam both days.  Also, our site surrounded a big grassy area that had a big pig roast for dinner- we didn't eat it but it looked cool.  Then they played Bingo for $1 per card and of course, being the Bingo queen that I am, I won a sleeping bag & some peanuts (Tony picked out the peanuts of all things...should have known better than to send him up for the selection!)

After it got dark they showed "The Lorax" on a big projection screen for all the kids.  It was really fun. 

Then the sleeping part came...or the lack thereof.  Macie fell asleep right away in the other tent which was good.  Pax on the other hand was not so easy.  I took him on a 15 minute walk in his stroller to get him to sleep the first time, but he woke up as soon as I moved him and I had to lay with him for at least 30 minutes.  He ended up waking up at least 3 or 4 times during the night, one of them he was so hysterical I couldn't get him to calm down for anything!  I attemped to jump in the truck to block out the noise for all of our fellow campers but when you unlock it or open the door it lights up like a Christmas tree which lit up the whole camp site!  I got in it and realized the windows were down slightly which didn't help with the cold air and the fact that I hadn't grabbed a blanket or anything when I jumped in.  That also didn't help with the noise of Pax screaming!  I finally got him calmed down & back to sleep but didn't dare open the door again either to get back in the tent or get Tony to grab us a blanket because I didn't want to light up the whole place again or risk waking Pax.  So I probably sat there for a good 45 minutes freezing cold (making sure Pax was warm) and not sleeping.  STUPID TRUCK!!!  Eventually I couldn't stand it anymore and got out as quick as I could and laid Pax between Tony and I and he slept the rest of the night pretty well.  It was a long, tiring night, so I was pretty dead the next day...and he was not a happy camper!  Haha!

Anyway, we just stayed the one night but overall we did have a fun time.  I guess it's just going to take some getting used to for Pax.  I think we'd do better with a nice motorhome, though!  :)

Dennis & Dixie came up for the day but didn't stay the night...lucky them!  :)

The girls made their own "campfire" out of random sticks & other things...they put a flashlight in the middle to make it light up...so cute!

Swimming Lessons

Right after we got home from Newport, Macie started swimming lessons.  Her preschool teacher teaches them during the summer at her house and they do 8 lessons in 2 weeks.  I had signed her up for the level 2 class, but Miss Lorie moved her up to the next level because she was doing so well.  Before we started Macie could swim a few feet on her own but then she'd get nervous and she wanted someone or something close to hold on to.  By the end of the lessons she was swimming the length of the pool on her own, diving off the diving board, and swimming all sorts of different strokes.  I was so impressed with her progress!  She is like a little fish now and it is so fun to be able to go swimming without having her hanging on to me the whole time.  Way to go Macie!
