Welcome Home Paxton!

We left the hospital on Saturday the 20th. It was good to get home and be out of the hospital. It's funny- everyone tells you to take advantage of the hospital and get as much rest as possible, but between the nurse, the CNA, the nursery nurse, the doctor, the pediatrician, the people bringing meals, and visitors coming & calling, there really isn't a lot of time to actually sleep! I think I've done better since I got home! So far he hasn't quite figured out a good sleep pattern at night (he sleeps just fine during the day!), but we're working on it! I did get 3 hours in a row the other night which was nice...still working on more than that, though! I guess it's just a matter of time! We stopped by my parents' house to pick up Macie on the way home. She was excited to finally have mommy and baby brother coming home!

Mom with all 4 of her grandkids!

Macie thought she'd better try out Paxton's carseat!

Daddy & son bonding time!
First bath (spongebath) at home- realized we don't have any boy towels so Macie let him borrow one of hers- we'll have to get some boy linens asap!

Paxton was fussing in his crib & Macie ran in & jumped up & told him "It's okay baby, big sister is here!" She is too sweet! She is always so concerned if he cries!

Look at that cute face!

We love this little guy! Can't believe he's really ours! Our family feels so complete!

Paxton's Birth Day!

Getting settled into the hospital, around 4am

Getting into my deep relaxation- had to have some oxygen for a little while.

Mom & Kensie patiently waiting...with as fast as Macie came we all thought this one would be out in no time! (We were so wrong!)

Dad stopped by to check up on me while I was in labor.

Trying the rocking chair to see if that would help turn the baby.

Kensie, Charlene, & Dixie

Baby Pax finally arrived at 10:42am

9lbs 3oz, 21 inches long....we knew he would be a good size but no idea he'd be that big!

Cute little newborn feet!

Opening his eyes, checking out his new world!

Proud Daddy!

Proud parents!

Daddy giving Paxton his first bath a few hours after birth...I walked down to the nursery with him & was able to watch as well as take picture & video it!

He pooped during his bath so we had to start all over!

Tony went & picked up Macie & brought her over to meet her new brother!
It was love at first sight- she kept saying "I love you baby brother!" She kept kissing him & loving him- she wanted to take him home right away!

He's Here!!!

Paxton James Davies Well, the little guy finally decided to arrive- Thursday March 18th @ 10:42am! Wednesday I kept telling everyone that I was going to have him during the night- I even packed my bag with all the last minute things & insisted that Tony shave his beard! At 2am Thursday morning I woke up to go to the bathroom and I was so disappointed that I wasn't in labor yet! Then around 3:15/3:30am I had a contraction. They weren't quite like the contractions I remembered having with Macie (they felt lower in the abdomen & also a lot in the lower back) so I laid in bed for awhile to see if they kept coming. And they did, so I got up and got ready, then Tony got up. By then the contractions were about 3 minutes apart so he was a little nervous since Macie came so fast! We dropped Macie off for my dad to watch her but she ended up going to Grandma Vickie's (and never went back to bed!).
We got to the hospital around 4:30am and I was dilated 4cm & about 90% effaced- I could feel that things weren't progressing like they had with Macie, but wasn't sure why. The first nurse I had was not great- I didn't want an epidural because I do hypnobirthing which consists of me getting into a relaxed state, but that was extremely hard to do because she kept asking me questions, many repetatively, and had to stick me with needles several times in several places because she couldn't take my blood! It was frustrating! I couldn't be more blessed that her shift ended at 7am, because the nurse Jeanie that came on after her was my angel sent from above! She had actually taught hypnobirthing and was not only extremely supportive, but also realized that the baby was posterior which is why I was having so much back pain and also not progressing past 6cm.
Nurse Jeanie used all sorts of methods to help alleviate the strength of the contractions and also to help get the baby turned the right way. I sat on a rocking chair for awhile then a birthing ball and dilated to about 7-8cm. My membranes had still not ruptured at that time, either. So she drew me a jacuzzi bath with jets and I got in. The warm water really helped the contractions- I was more relaxed in there then I had been the whole morning! The purpose of the jacuzzi was to relax my muscles so the baby could turn, and within about an hour that's exactly what happened. As soon as he turned my membranes ruptured and I started pushing, still in the tub. It's the hospital policy that I couldn't deliver in the tub, otherwise I probably would have just stayed right where I was, but instead I got out and onto the bed and was pushing right away. The nurse was trying to get me to settle down since the doctors were all in the middle of something, but it's such a natural feeling to push that there really is no stopping it! Luckily a doctor made it in and after pushing for about 20 minutes the not-so-little guy made it out! They laid him on my chest and let me just hold him while those in the room- Tony, my mom, his mom, and my sister-in-law Mackensie all crowded around to meet him as well. (My aunt Charli who had never witnessed a live birth was there up until about 5 minutes before he arrived, but missed it because she had to get to work- sorry Char!)
He did cry for a minute, but then was so content on mommy's chest- it was such an amazing bonding experience! It was one thing I hated about Macie's delivery was how they handed her to me for a minute but then took her away to clean her, weigh her, etc and I didn't get her back for almost 1/2 hr! So this was so nice!
I had them finally clean him up quick and weigh him just so we could know his size as we were calling up family & friends. He weighed in at 9lbs 3oz and 21 inches long! BIG BOY!!! He is so beautiful, though, and so sweet! He latched right on to breastfeeding and has been doing great. Macie came to meet him later in the day and she is in love! We all are! I think our family just might be complete!

40 weeks and....

STILL NOTHING!!! AAAAAHHHHH! I went to my appointment today and I have only dilated 1/2cm since last week, putting me at 1.5 cm total! He forgot to tell me how effaced I am (I pretty much have to ask for any information I want!) so I'm just assuming I'm still around 50% like last week. He "stripped my membranes" because I begged him to, but when I had that done with Macie I still didn't have her for another 6 days! I will be going back next Monday for another appointment as well as a non-stress test to make sure the baby is still doing okay post-due date. I decided to go ahead and set up an induction date for March 24th...as much as I am completely against being induced, I also am completely against going past a week after my due date, not only for the baby's sake but for my own physical (& mental) sake! So it looks like we'll have a baby by the 24th no matter what, although I am doing everything possible to get him here before then! I desperately DO NOT want to be induced! I've already gone 40 weeks being pregnant so one more shouldn't seem like a big deal, but I left the doctor's office crying just thinking about it! I wish I was a more patient person....but I'm not! So there's the update...and hopefully the next post will be about our new baby, not my 41 week checkup! :/

Crew's Birthday

My nephew turned 2 on the 8th and it amazes me how fast he's grown! We had a little party for him and he was so cute! Macie was the birthday brat- she cried because Crew got presents and she didn't, then again when Crew got to blow out the candles on his cake & she didn't. I guess we should quit talking about her birthday until it actually comes, otherwise she thinks every party is for her!

39 weeks and...

Went to my 39 week appointment today and I am dilated 1cm and 50% effaced. I know I shouldn't compare to my pregnancy with Macie because every pregnancy is different, but I can't help it. At this time with her I was dilated 2cm and 70% effaced (and still went 6 days past my due date!) I'm happy that I've made SOME progress, even if it is slight! I go back next week for my 40 week appointment, and I went ahead and made a 41 week appointment, although I really hope I don't make it to that one! The doctor asks me everytime about being induced, but I don't want to be so I keep telling him no thanks...you'd think he'd make a note of that in the chart or something! Anyway, I got a nice massage yesterday and I'm planning on getting a pedicure this week. I'm also working this week and next week will be my last, regardless. I'm crossing my fingers that this little guy is less stubborn than his sister and decides to come a little earlier than 41 weeks!

38 weeks and.....

NOTHING! I went to the doctor today and I am not dilated at all! I was dilated at least 1cm at this time with Macie and was still a week late, so I'm starting to get kind of frustrated! I realize I still have 2 weeks left until my due date, but I was really hoping I'd go a little earlier this time! I've tried all of the "tricks" and nothing works! Oh well, I guess this baby will come when he's good and ready!
