18 Months

Somehow this baby of mine turned 18 months old.  I feel bad that I haven't updated him month by month but he's the third kid...guess it's just the way it's going to be!  Plus, he's my baby (even if he insists on growing up) and I don't want to miss one minute of those chubby little hands and cheeks or big blue eyes.  He isn't talking a lot of sense yet, but does say mommy, daddy, don't touch, what's that, go utes, and attempts to copy things and say names in his own language.  He can also say a few animal sounds and "counts" to 3 in his own language.  He is the sweetest baby and loves to give kisses and loves.  He loves to cuddle with me and I can't seem to get enough.  He is super crazy and into everything!!!  I can hardly keep up with him some days.  I love my Brady boy so much!  He is officially in the toddler stage which means I am officially done with the baby stage forever.  It makes me really sad!  :*(

 

Brady got a hold of the diapers that were placed too close to his crib and decided to have a little fun before finally crashing for his nap!  One of the many examples of his craziness!

Emigration Canyon & Utah Game

In July, my sweet Granny Hilda passed away.  She was one of the healthiest people I knew even at age 95!  She fell and broke her pelvis bone/hip bone and was told that if they did surgery it could kill her but if they didn't do surgery she'd be in a wheelchair.  She decided walk or die.  She actually came out of the surgery really well and was sent to a rehabilitation clinic to recover.  But there, her organs just slowly started shutting down, most likely from the trauma of the anesthetic and surgery at her age.  They wanted to send her back to the hospital but she decided that her time here was finished and chose to pass on.  It was nice to be able to say goodbye and as sad as I was to see her go I can't think of a better way to die. 

 She LIVED her life up until the end, not only hiking daily but was actually the LEADER of her hiking club.  She ate and drank healthy, exercised regularly, volunteered at the hospice clinic, and lived fully and faithfully in her Christianity.  She was always a happy, positive person and always seemed to have a smile on her face.  She didn't want a funeral or anyone to "fuss" over her so she was creamated (as was my Grandpa when he passed away in 2005.) 

There was no funeral but we got most of my dad's family together this past weekend to celebrate her life and remember her.  The property where they lived is going to be sold so it was bittersweet to say goodbye to an era and a legacy.  I have a lot of memories there and it will be sad to not have that place to go anymore.  I had to take one last swing on this swing that I have swung on a hundred+ times.  Everyone got some ashes of my granny and grandpa mixed together with flower seeds.  I kept mine and will put them in my flower beds and maybe somewhere else special.  Creamation is different than the traditional deaths I have encountered but I can't say it's as weird as I thought it would be.  I'm not a cemetery kind of person so it's kind of cool to have a piece of them that I can have and visit wherever I want.  I love you sweet Granny and will miss you until we meet again!

 

 

 

Later on in the day Tony and I went to the Utah vs Washington State game.  It was a RAINY day...we literally wore our rain suits!  Utes started out 21-0 in the first quarter so we were feeling comfortable with the lead.  BUT, then they decided to just quit playing I guess and let WSU come back and beat us with 4 minutes left in the game by ONE POINT 27-28!  It was the most frustrating, nail-biting game and ended up in such a disappointment especially after sitting in the cold, pouring rain for 4 hours!  I might be a little too into this football thing...my blood pressure is probably going to be high by the end of the season!

Aquarium Field Trip

Paxton's class got to go to the new Aquarium for a field trip.  Brady and I went with him and it was fun.  Pax and David wanted to hang out so we stuck with them most of the time...these 2 crack me up!  The aquarium was pretty cool...definitely a lot better than the old one.

Stitches....AGAIN!!!

Almost 6 months exactly from when Macie got stitches on her right eye she cut her left eye just above the eyebrow this time.  Again, because she fell and her glasses cut into her just right...I'm starting to really despise those glasses!  I was at YW when Tony sent me a pic with the words "We have an issue!"  I don't really panic about things like this but I never know when something needs stitches or if it will just heal on it's own.  I don't like to be dramatic and stitch every little cut!  But after throwing it out on Facebook and getting some advice from nurse friends I decided that since she is a girl and it's on her face it was probably worth at least getting it looked at.  My mom came over to sit with the boys (who were in bed) so Tony and I could take Macie to Primary Children's ER.  It was a little bit of a wait but it wasn't that serious so we weren't a priority.  In fact, there was a super skinny little boy that had broken his arm and any time his dad even moved he'd wail...it was the saddest thing and even though they came after us I was so eager for them to get him back.  Thankfully they took him first...poor little guy. 

Anyway, after a couple hours Macie ended up with "liquid" stitches which was way easier and has healed much nicer. She cried for a minute because she said it stung, but otherwise she did awesome and was super brave.  She was glad to not have to worry about getting them removed later, too.  I'd really like to get me some of this liquid stitch stuff at home!

Oh, and did I mention this happened 2 days before picture day?  LOL!

Wedding/Girls Weekend in California

My friend Kylee got married a few weeks ago in L.A. so some of us girls made it into a girls' weekend and flew out to celebrate with her.  Kristi's in-laws have a gorgeous house in Hermosa Beach and were kind enough to host all of us.  We flew in Friday morning and after getting to the house we walked down towards the beach and pier.  We ate lunch at Kristi's sister-in-law and brother-in law's restaurant Hook and Plow which was SO yummy.  We did some quick shopping then went back to the house and got ready.  That night we went to an Italian restaurant for Kylee's rehearsal dinner.  The food was great and it was so fun celebrating with all the fun traditions from both families. On Saturday morning Tabitha, Kristin and I went to the L.A. temple for Kylee and Dave's sealing ceremony.  The temple was actually closed but because of scheduling issues they opened it just for Kylee!  It was so beautiful and so cool to have it all to ourselves.  It was a packed room with everyone there and I am grateful that I got to be apart of it.

We grabbed some pizza and then hung out for awhile at the house.  Then later on went to the ring ceremony and reception at Dave's parents' house in Rancho Palos Verdes which was breathtaking.  Everything was beautiful!

On Sunday morning we made it to the beach and I couldn't help but take a dip in the ocean.  The beach is my happy place and it was so fun to sit and relax!  We had a nice lunch at a Mexican restaurant by the pier.  Kristin and I left that night (Tabitha left that morning).  It was such a fun trip and SO fun hanging out with these awesome girls.

Beach Day!

First Half of September.....

Paxton started his 2nd year of preschool.  I can't even believe he will be going to Kindergarten next year.  He still seems too little to be in school at all.  This kid keeps me laughing all day, though.  He was really excited to go back.  He goes on my days off so it's nice if I have errands to run because having just one kid is easy!  But trying to clean or do things around the house has actually been harder since Pax is so good at entertaining Brady and keeping him busy so I can get things done!

 

Paxton has been going through an "I don't want to go to bed" stage lately...and it is really frustrating because that is mom and dad time!  One night while I was cleaning up the kitchen he laid at the top of the stairs and when I went to go up I found him sound asleep like this.

Paxton's class went to Wheeler Farm for a field trip.  Sadly, we hadn't made it there this year at all so I was excited to take him and Brady (Macie had school.)  They loved it and it was a really nice day.  Paxton's buddy is David...they were attached at the hip most of the day!

 

I went dark again.  I've had blonde highlights in my hair for so long that there were several colors in my hair and I needed to go all dark and start over again.

 

 

 Went up to the mountains with our awesome YW and YM to have dinner and a campfire.  Fun times!  Did I mention how much I love these people?

August

 

Last Christmas my awesome grandma got some of us girls tickets to see Wicked!  We have had 8 months to be excited and it did not disappoint!  I hadn't seen it yet and it was SOOOOO good!  I really loved it.  I usually like to see plays/musicals once and then I'm good, but I could definitely see this one over and over.  It was me, my mom, Mackensie, my grandma, Charli & Molly.  We met for dinner at Olive Garden before.  It was such a fun night...THANK YOU GRANDMA...seriously, best present ever!!!

I have been in Young Womens' for a year now and I never would have thought I'd love it this much!  Our girls got to go to Heber Valley Camp this year and I wish I could have gone the whole week with them...we called it Princess Camping because it was SO nice!  They had an Alice in Wonderland theme and the Stake made everything so extravagant and cute.  We all went home with our own teacups and saucers that the girls got at the Queen's "Tea." I went up on the last night with Jamie & Bonnie.  We hung around and played games then met with everyone for dinner.  Then we had a really neat devotional then testimony meeting.  It was such a fun day...these girls are seriously amazing.  I got to go to Youth Conference in July as well and that was such a cool weekend.  I can't even begin to explain how much fun I have with them. 

Macie started 2nd grade!  She was so excited to start school she could hardly sleep the night before.  So far she is loving it!  Summer seemed to go by way too fast, though!

 

 

 

 The Ute football season officially started with a win against Idaho State.  We have season tickets this year and it really is one of our favorite things to do together.  I am kind of obsessed with football and these games are SO fun!

We went to Park City for Labor Day weekend with my family.  We went to Park Silly then went swimming, bowling and hot tubbed on our balcony.  It was a fun weekend!
