Christmas Day

We had a great Christmas!  It was a little busier being on a Sunday, but it was good.  I got up super early and got showered/ready before the kids got up.  Finally at 8am I started opening up their blinds/curtains and trying to get them to wake up (I know this won't last...it's probably only a matter of time before they're up at 5am begging to open presents!)  Once Macie opened her eyes and realized it was Christmas morning she got a big smile on her face and jumped out of bed!  I was kind of mean and made them hurry and get ready before we opened presents.  We finally went downstairs to see what Santa left for us! 

The kids got a few gifts, books, and a stocking.  And next to the plate that we had left Santa's cookie on our little elf "Red" had left a note for the kids since he had to go back to the North Pole until next year!  (We will miss Red...Macie was especially good while he was around!)

In Macie's stocking Santa left his usual note to the kids and sent them on a little hunt for their "big" present.  It was fun and they were thrilled with everything they got.  We kind of had to rush off right after to make it to church by 9am.  We went to my parents' ward since our friend Charley sang & spoke.  He did a great job...I just wish Pax hadn't been such a stinker so I could have listened more!




After church we headed to Tony's parents' house for breakfast and presents with them.  The kids got lots of fun things and we hung out for awhile playing games and letting the kids play with their new fun toys.

In the early afternoon we headed over to my parents' house where we opened presents with my family...and once again the kids and us got spoiled.

So nevermind the fact that I look ginormous and horrible in this picture...but it has a lot of meaning to me so I had to post it.  When I was growing up I always wanted the American Girl doll Samantha.  She was always my favorite but they are expensive dolls and my mom never got me one (and she still regrets it!)  They discontinued Samantha about a year or 2 ago.  Macie wants an American Girl doll and her favorite is Julie...I didn't let her get one for Christmas because I feel like 4 years old is a little too young to get a $100 doll.  Anyway, my mom negotiated with me and I let her get her the mini version of Julie (which is only like $25)...and Macie was thrilled!  But then my mom gave me a gift that I didn't think anything of as I opened it up.  When I saw the little American Girl box I was kind of taken back.  Then I saw that it was a mini version of Samantha.  I know it's kind of silly but it literally brought me to tears...it's maybe the most meaningful, thoughtful gift I've ever received.  Obviously I don't play with dolls anymore but I love my Samantha doll...she means a lot to me!

Later in the evening we went over to my Grandma's house to open up more presents since Grandpa doesn't like to leave the house, then we went back to my parents' house to eat dinner. 

I wanted a 4 generation picture but by the end of the night Macie was not having it...so we all made a "mad face" picture...and I love the way it turned out!

We made one more stop by Tony's parents' house and played a game and hung out there for a little bit, then finally headed home.  The kids were exhausted and it was late...and it was a long day...a long week actually!  But Macie really wanted to sleep in her new princess tent, so I put it on her bed,  and she fell asleep in it within 5 minutes!  Too cute...and next to her new Ariel doll.

I love Christmas.  There is nothing better than spending time with those that we love and watching my kids faces light up all day just from getting simple little gifts.  The excitement is priceless.  And Macie did not forget this year that we were celebrating Jesus' birthday.  She even made him a birthday card which was so sweet!



Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve we had our traditional Breakfast with Santa in the morning.  For the 2nd year in a row we had it at our friend Chris' house and with my mom's help they do a great job!  Breakfast was delicious and the company was even better.  After we ate, Santa stopped by to visit with all the kids.  It was such a fun morning! 

It's been tradition since I was little to go to my Granny's house on Christmas Eve night, but this year she went to St. George so we had nowhere to go.  It was definitely sad to break the tradition, but my sister-in-law's family was sweet and invited us to their family party this year.  After we left there we went to Tony's parents' house to get our Christmas Eve pajamas.

We tried to get to bed early but Macie was too excited and didn't fall asleep until after 10pm...and only because I finally sat in her room putting laundry away until she fell asleep!

 

 

Pax isn't a fan of sitting on Santa's lap unless he has a present...and this one didn't, so he wasn't interested!  :)

Winter Dance Recital

Macie had her winter dance recital this week and did such a great job.  I was a little disappointed in the teacher that she has this year...the girls are used to memorizing their dance based on the words to the song they are dancing to, but she had them memorize it by counting, which I think they're a little too young for.  So when it came time for them to do it on stage they were lost right away and didn't do half the dance.  I also don't know why she doesn't sit on the front of the stage and help them out...instead they are looking on the side of the stage where she is for help.  Macie did a good job, though...she was doing some really cute dance moves that I'd never seen her do before, and she did a lot of the dance while most of the other girls just stood there!

(We take Ruthie to dance every other week and her mom takes them the other weeks which makes it nice since we both have toddlers who are hard to entertain for an hour every time!)

For a kid who used to hate having her photo taken, she sure has become a little poser!  :)

Grandma Thelma brought her flowers...she was so excited to get them and kept sticking them in everyone's faces trying to make everyone smell them!

Christmas Caroling

On Macie's last day of preschool before Christmas break they had a fun "Night Before Christmas" pajama party!  The last 15 minutes of class they met us parents outside and sang a few Christmas "Carols" for us.  They were so cute, and even though it was freezing cold it was fun to watch!  Before we left Macie's cute little boyfriend Dallas gave her a homemade ornament for Christmas...she was really excited and hung it on the tree as soon as we got home.  She also gave me my present that she made for Tony and me at school...it was an ornament that she made with her picture on it...so cute! 

Nothing is better than those homemade gifts!  She was so excited to give it to me...it is priceless!

It's been kind of fun having her home these last few days.  She usually goes to school on the days I'm off work so this week she came to the gym with me and Pax and hung out with us at home.  She is such a good helper, too...sometimes it's easier to have her home to help entertain Pax!

Davies Party

Santa stopped by our annual Davies' Christmas party once again!  I thought Pax would freak out when he saw him, but he went right to him (after he saw that he was handing out gifts!)  Santa brought his Naughty/Nice list this year...luckily both of my kids made the "Nice" list!  Macie made the "Nice" list because she is doing great in school and is good with her little brother.  Pax made it because he is very polite always using please & thank you, and he always helps out by putting his dirty clothes in the laundry basket!

"I'm not sure about you Santa, but I know you have a present so I'll give you a chance!"

While Santa was reading his list Pax kept saying "open"...he wanted Santa to open his present!  (He got a police car that goes when you shake it!)

Cute Macie was patiently watching as each kid got a chance on Santa's lap.  She saw what everyone else was getting and when I asked her what she hoped Santa brought for her she said "I don't care what he got me, I'll love anything!"  She got a little doll with a stroller which she really wanted.  She said "Santa is so smart, I really wanted this and he got it for me!"  Love her!  She is always so grateful for everything she gets!

As we were saying goodbye to Santa Pax went up to him and gave him a big hug!  Anytime we leave somewhere or he goes to bed Pax always has to get a "kiss" or a hug, he is so sweet!

What a fun night!  I love this time of year when we get to spend lots of time with family and get together for fun parties!

Temple Square

For some reason we always seem to be dumb enough to head downtown in the freezing cold so we can see the lights at Temple Square.  Ten years ago I'd say it was worth it, but they've definitely decreased the amount of lights they put up and it's kind of disappointing these days.  But we do it anyway!

This year we met my parents at Cafe Rio for dinner then we headed downtown.  We thought going during the week would be less crazy, but it ended up being on a popular YW/YM night which meant TONS of teenagers!  That was worse!

It was REALLY cold...I thought I had bundled the kids up really well but when we got back in the car poor Pax's hands and feet were frozen!  I felt so bad!  We were only there for maybe 45 minutes.  We walked around and saw the lights then headed home.  The manger scene is always neat to see but we always seem to catch it in the middle or at the end...it's always a good way to bring the Spirit to the Christmas season, though.

Anyway, we did have fun, but we were cold...I decided we need to start going to the Mesa, AZ temple to see lights...it's warm and they do a really good job decorating!

21 Months

Not much has changed in a month, but a few funny things that Pax has said or done lately are as follows:

- Anytime he doesn't get what he wants or gets in trouble he says "Yo Wude" (You're rude!) or he'll say "Yo Mean" or "She Mean" or "Daddy Mean" or "Mommy Mean" etc.  It's pretty funny and hard to get mad at!

- His new favorite word is "Why?"  Anything we say is followed by him asking "Why?"  It's funny, but sort of annoying after awhile!

- Pax is very friendly.  He saids "hi" and "thankyou" to everyone he sees!  He's also started saying "Hi Daddy" to every guy he sees which can be kind of embarrassing!  He knows who daddy is so I'm not sure why he does it!

- Pax went potty the other night in the big toilet!  I took off his diaper to get him ready for bed and kind of started to pee, so I ran him into the bathroom and put him on the potty and he finished in the toilet.  He was really excited...and so was I!  I'm not ready to start the potty training process yet, but it was kind of exciting!

- The other night we went to dinner after Macie's dance recital.  Tony was holding Pax's hand and lifted him into the booth at the restaurant by his hand and all the sudden Pax started crying really hard.  This kid is usually really tough so even if he gets hurt and cries it's usually not for very long.  But he kept holding his wrist and crying anytime I'd even move him at all, so my first thought was that he hurt his wrist.  I got some ice from the waitress and put it on it and tried to hold him still.  My sister-in-law called her friend who is the nurse at our pediatrician office and she said it was probably "nurse-maid elbow" which is when the arm comes out of socket at the elbow.  At first I thought she was wrong since he was holding his wrist, but then I let his arm go and realized he couldn't lift his arm at all and was crying hysterically from the pain.  So we called the pediatrician office and the doctor said the same thing...he offered to talk us through pop it back in but neither of us wanted to do it so he said he'd meet us in the parking lot at the office which was so nice of him since they were closed!  We left my family at Wingers and Tony and I took Pax down the street to the pediatrician's office where the doctor let us in and took us up to the office.  It took him less than 2 seconds to pop it back into place...Pax screamed for a second but when the doctor got him a popsicle that made him happy.  He even grabbed it with his "bad" arm.  He said that once it's back in it's like it never happened, which was true!  He was good as new! 

We went back to the truck and when Tony went to start it the battery was dead because a light was left on (and he has a crappy battery)!  So my mom had to drive my car from the restaurant to come jump us then we all went back to eat...finally!  My Grandma and sister-in-law had all the kids and they had made a huge mess! It was quite a night!  We couldn't stop laughing at how crazy it was!
